Mullingar U18 Girls Secure Convincing Win Over Greystones

Mullingar Rugby Football Club’s U18 girls produced an impressive display in their recent game against Greystones, securing a comprehensive victory. Mullingar raced into the lead early on, with Orla Rijksen opening the scoring followed by a powerful line break from Eabha O’Mahony, who crossed under the posts for a second try.

The home side extended their lead further when Aine Forde sprinted down the wing and grounded the ball under the posts, making the conversion straightforward. Mullingar capitalized on Greystones’ errors, and another perfectly placed chip over the defense allowed Rijksen to score her second try. Charlotte Butler Clyne also added to the tally before halftime, as Mullingar took a commanding lead.

Greystones rallied in the second half, scoring an early try and applying pressure. However, Mullingar's defense held strong, with Orla O’Brien dominating the lineouts and Keela Nolan, Eimear Doonan, and Chloe Mulcahy making strong carries in open play. Rijksen completed her hat-trick, adding to her team’s impressive performance.

Greystones fought back, with their out-half scoring a well-deserved try in the final quarter, but Mullingar finished the game on top with O’Brien’s final try under the posts.

It was a strong all-around performance from the Mullingar U18 girls, setting the tone for a promising season ahead.
