Daryl Quinn Celebrates His 200th Cap for Mullingar

December 18, 2024

On Sunday, 15th December, Mullingar Rugby Club celebrated a historic milestone as Daryl Quinn earned his 200th cap for the club. It was a proud and emotional day for Daryl, his family, and everyone connected to the club.

Daryl, who played his first senior game in 2007, has been a key figure at Mullingar Rugby Club for 15 seasons. After coming through the club’s underage section and a brief stint with UCD Under-20s, Daryl returned to Mullingar to join the senior team. Over the years, he has experienced many highs and lows, including promotions, relegations, and winning two Leinster leagues.

Club President, Ciaran Murtagh, paid tribute to Daryl’s extraordinary achievement, saying, “Reaching 100 caps is already a rare and remarkable achievement, but 200 caps is almost unheard of. Daryl has been a stalwart of Mullingar Rugby Club for many years, and we couldn’t be prouder of him.”

Daryl also captained the team for five seasons, leading with dedication and grit. His commitment to the club has been unwavering, inspiring teammates and younger players alike.

The milestone was made even sweeter with a hard-fought 27-8 victory over Cill Dara in a home game. Reflecting on the day, Daryl said, “To get the win on my 200th cap makes this milestone even more special. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’d like to thank all the coaches and, most importantly, my family for their support over the years.”

After the game, Daryl was presented with a framed Mullingar jersey, signed by his teammates. Clearly moved, he said, “This is something I’ll stick up on the wall as soon as possible. It’s something I’ll treasure forever.”

Daryl’s loyalty, hard work, and passion for the sport have left an indelible mark on Mullingar Rugby Club. Congratulations, Daryl, on this incredible achievement!
