Mullingar Rugby Club: A Rising Centre of Excellence in Irish Rugby
Mullingar Rugby Club is going from strength to strength, establishing itself as a hub of rugby excellence in the Midlands, Leinster, and across Ireland. With state-of-the-art facilities, the club has become a destination of choice for touring teams seeking top-class training environments.
“This weekend alone, we’ve hosted teams from King’s Hospital, Clongowes Wood, and Wilson’s Hospital in preparation for their cup games,” said Ciaran Murtagh, Club President. “Our gym, two 4G pitches, and conferencing facilities for video analysis and team meals provide a unique alternative to traditional training grounds.”
The club’s central location, now highly accessible thanks to excellent motorway links, makes it an attractive option for visiting teams. Vice-President Denis Mc Dermott added, “We are proud of what we offer here in Mullingar. It’s a perfect break from the norm for rugby teams across Ireland.”
One of the added benefits of hosting visiting teams has been the opportunity for local players to experience new challenges. This weekend, Mullingar’s Under-16 boys faced Clongowes Wood’s junior cup team in a friendly match. “It was fantastic to see two rugby worlds meet,” said Coach Dec Murphy. “It’s an invaluable experience for our lads to play at this level.”
With its vision of becoming an academy of rugby excellence in the Midlands, Leinster, and beyond, the future is bright for Mullingar Rugby Club. If you’re interested in using our facilities, please contact the club directly.
